"The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." Titus 2:3-5

About Me

Oregon, United States
I am a happy, Christian, wife and post-homeschooling mother. I have spent the last several years homeschooling and now I am "adjusting" to a new season of life as "empty nester". In 2010 we moved to be Host/Caretakers at a Bible Camp. We look at our ministry here as preparing the way for the gospel to be shared as well as encouraging believers in their daily walk. I am a farmgirl at heart and love the country, I love gardening and food preserving. I also, love tea parties!! I also have a Titus 2 heart and want to share with anyone willing to listen and learn. I love having friends over and teaching them how to make bread or put up pickles. And as we work, I love to encourage them to love their husbands and their children and to be Keepers at Home and all that implies and I love that you let me do that here!! Hope you enjoy visiting my farm and walking through a journey in life with me.......I hope at some point in time I can encourage you in your walk and in your home..........

Canning 101

Two very happy ladies, ready to go................
both are basically first-timers!!
We did some Roma's.......I like these because they hold together a little better in the jar after processed. I also, chop some, so that I can dump them into a bowl and ad my spices I get through my food coop and make salsa! It is a special Salsa Seasoning mix.
We also did a box of canning tomatoes.........

And there you have it!!

Then the pickles.....
We had two or three cucumbers left, I usually just eat them, but these guys wanted to use them and there was this little jar....so cute.....you could almost hear it...."pick me, pick me"....

Isn't he cute all full of pickles!!
Pickle row...........

And..........they are still smiling!!!!

And......Back Over the Mountain...........

On our way home, we stopped at a little farm stand do grab fresh dill for those pickles I would be working on that week.....that black goat back in there you can barely see is the very same as my Lydia that I sold this winter.....a bit of sadness swept across my heart....

Then a stop at the river for a picnic lunch, and on home.........

Best Canning Book Ever!!

What I especially love are the step-by-step picture instructions for several of the items! Especially the green beans, since there are so many little steps with that pressure cooker.

Over the Mountain........

We took a wonderful trip over the mountain last weekend to see our friends in concert. I am just getting around to this post as it has been a very busy week of canning..... :) (more on that later)

What a beautiful setting for a good old down to earth "Cowboy" show......................
Like I have said before......the valley is bountiful................
Just out their kitchen door.......

They have a bridge across a creek and on the other side it is beautiful there too!

Wonderful setting, they built a stage right there in front of there house......

Horse and buggy rides......grandkids had a lemonade stand......what more could you ask for on a warm sunny afternoon on the farm....

Each one of their children who is married and has children had their families do a special number, that is especially fun to see the talent in the little ones......

Then the daylight, began to give way to the night and it was nice, cool and beautiful music was just floating through the trees..........

And then it was over...........

If you are ever in Oregon in early August......watch for the "Booher Family Reunion Concert"......you will be pleasantly surprised! These kids were all homeschooled right here on this very farm....they are all grown up now and all but two are married and have families of their own. One older son lives right next door and another is moving up from Texas to live near his family! It has been a joy to watch this family grow up and be what they are today.

Hope you enjoyed the tour!
