"The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." Titus 2:3-5

About Me

Oregon, United States
I am a happy, Christian, wife and post-homeschooling mother. I have spent the last several years homeschooling and now I am "adjusting" to a new season of life as "empty nester". In 2010 we moved to be Host/Caretakers at a Bible Camp. We look at our ministry here as preparing the way for the gospel to be shared as well as encouraging believers in their daily walk. I am a farmgirl at heart and love the country, I love gardening and food preserving. I also, love tea parties!! I also have a Titus 2 heart and want to share with anyone willing to listen and learn. I love having friends over and teaching them how to make bread or put up pickles. And as we work, I love to encourage them to love their husbands and their children and to be Keepers at Home and all that implies and I love that you let me do that here!! Hope you enjoy visiting my farm and walking through a journey in life with me.......I hope at some point in time I can encourage you in your walk and in your home..........

Preparedness, Farmgirls and such......

OK, this is a Farmgirl verse if I ever saw one............

".....so, watch the state of your flocks and your herds; then there will be lamb's wool enough for clothing, and goat's milk enough for food for all your household after the hay is harvested, and the new crop appears, and the mountain grasses are gathered in." Proverbs 27:24b-27

Sorry, just had to point that out........ :)

I love the idea of planning ahead and being prepared when it comes to being a woman at home. That is why I love canning and buying some foods in bulk and just having extra.

That way, in the winter you have food for your family, but also you have food to share if need be. If you run across someone who is out of work and needs help, you can send over some home canned goods and some of that flour you bought 50 pounds of and you have blessed someone. Or, not always likely to happen, but if you ever were caught in the middle of a disaster, flood, earthquake or anything.....again, you can help those who did not plan ahead.

Also, it is fun to think of Thanksgiving and Christmas during this season of putting up food. Special jams or jellies, those spicy pickles or sweet relish...........there are just so many things you can think about and get ahead on this time of year.

We will probably be touching on some of them over the next little bit here. I have some friends who want to know how to can, so I will share that with you. Trouble is here in Central Oregon, we have to search out our food. We cannot just run to the nearest stand to get it. Often for me, this has meant a trip over the mountain for the best prices........we will see, this year gas is high, so not sure where those best prices will be.

I am looking forward to getting together with others and preparing our pantries for the coming winter months. That makes me happy. :)

"A sensible man (woman) watches for problems ahead and prepares to meet them. The simpleton never looks and suffers the consequences."
Proverbs 27:12
